I have no way of knowing (atleast that i know of) to let me know when my HU starts sending out a distorted signal and i dont trust me ears that much. So i was just wondering if anybody has personal experience with this head unit and at what volume it starts to distort. The previous owner told me not to turn it up past 24/35, but i have also heard that some alpine HU's aswell as other high quality HU's will be able to go up to full volume without distortion. Im starting my new build and want to re-do all the gains on my amps so this would take some guess work out of it.

Thanks.

I had a DVA 9860 that I would take up to 30/35. I'd never measured the outputs, but didn't notice any audible distortion.

That said, if you want to "play it safe" and use 24 or 25 instead you can, it won't hurt anything. You'll be able to obtain the same level of overall output, the only difference is the gains on the amps will need to be set a little higher (which is only a problem if the amps are noisy with a higher gain setting) and the stereo will get louder quicker, you won't have quite as much of a "quiet" range in the volume control......which may or may not be an issue for you.
