Posted October 3, 201113 yr Hey guys, I'm in the process of deadening my trunk and I have a question. I have (2) vents in both rear quarter panels just below the floor line of my trunk. I plan on applying deadener all around those vents, but should I apply it OVER the vents as well? I know these things are designed to relieve cabin pressure or whatever, but what should I do with them? Here is a pic:
October 3, 201113 yr If you're chasing SPL and are willing to compromise the vehicle's function in that pursuit, seal them up. Otherwise, don't. If you're trying to stop noise, you may be able to implement a baffle on one side or the other that will help.
October 3, 201113 yr Author Thanks for the fast response Rudeboy, my goals are pretty much right in the middle between SQ and SPL, leaning more twords SQ. I think I will just deaden around them. Thanks!
October 4, 201113 yr I sealed mine up and when i would turn on the ac on its higest setting you could feel it push open the door a bit when you pulled the handle with no outward pressure. Mine ratteled alot could be an issue depending on you setup and car as well.

It didnt bother me having them sealed I dont see any problem with doing it..
October 4, 201113 yr Ok cause I'm thinking I'm about to seal mine off on my truck cause they flap when the bass hits.
