Hey fellas.... Just got this HU installed the other day... Lovin' it soo far..

Some questions:

Slope - I have the option of 6db, 12db, or 18db for the subwoofer... Currently I have it at 18db with a cutoff of 100hz ... Good/bad? Ideas? I don't have a great front stage so I thought going up that high would help with overall sound...

On the speakers I have them crossed at 125hz with a 12db slope instead of a 6db since I don't want the speakers to sound like crap going below that 125hz... Am I doing this correctly??

Last thing I need to ask... This HU has a voltage read out for the battery???? WTF hugesurprisewhenIsawthisinthedisplay!!!!

Is that a true voltage reader or inaccurate???

If you have no amps on your speakers, I would leave the octave on 12db.

If you have an amp and your crossover is at -24db, then 0 or 6db should be fine depending on how good the speaker handles the midbass frequencies.

You should use the slope and crossover position that sounds the best to you. The shallower the slope and the lower the cross point the harder it is on your mids due to them getting more midbass. Without knowing the volume you listen at, the speakers and your install, as well as the music you will play through them NO ONE can help you.

Personally I'd start with them really low and shallow and work your way up. Everything is a compromise.

He has my old HU and it was VERY accurate in my last car. You have to remember, it is measuring the input voltage to the HU, not at your amplifiers, so of course you will have voltage drop back there.

Currently don't know what level I'll listen at but my previous habits were pretty high... Out of 62 I was constantly hovering 40-50 I'd say ... And when I wanted to show off I'd go 50-60 ...

Music ranges from Bach, Tech N9ne, Eminem, Jessie J, Michael Jackson, Beatles, Eagles, Luther Vandross, Usher, Musiq SoulChild, K-naan, K-OS, Queen, Plan B, DJ Tiesto, Afro Jack, Linkin Park, Poets of the Fall, Junior Gong, Beenie Man, Barrington Levy, Bone Thugs, Asking Alexandria... Pretty much anything I hear that I can get stuck....

Speakers are not final(when can final ever be used in car audio anyway).. I have some Polk Audio tweets with a "bass blocker" in them and some Alpine Type-R 6x9s... I am looking into a 6.5" component set still ... Looking at the Aurasound 6000s, Pioneer D1720 and Image Dynamic CXS64.... Not sure what I'll settle on yet.

Now as far as slopes go, shallow would be "higher db"??? Like 18db is a shallower cross point than 6db??? Just slightly confused by the way you worded that as I don't 100% know the terminology... I have yet to check what my amplifier for my front stage is set at since I was too excited playing around and driving.. lol ... So where I'm at is about right for a start?

Ok Im pretty sure they mean the curve on the slope is shallower.

See, on the headunit, when you put 0, 6 or 12, you see how the _______ (on 0) becomes /--------- (on 6) and even more shallower on 12?

Well, that means that the frequency which the crossover is set at is been cut off "faster" if you wanna put it that way.

If you have a 100hz with 12db slope, that means you will barely be able to hear 80hz. At a -24db slope, it will almost be impossible hear the 80hz frequency.

It all depends on your taste, and of course, how the speakers handle the lower frequencies.

There are speakers that suck at below 100hz, others like the carbons that I heard can play down to 50hz no problems.
