ok heres the deal.

i my box is sub and port same direction as of now i have them firing port up sub up. and there is around 4 inchs space before the trunk lid, and i am scoring a 148.

i think i maybe able to squeeze the box in sub back port back.. but i will only have 2 or 3 inchs between the subs and port and wall of my trunk.

if i change it up now.. and lose my score then im fucked for this weekend.

i have talked with another town car SPL guy. and he stated, in all his testing center port back. he lost 3 DB. from having port on one side,

and lost .5 db's on the dash (meca) with sub up port up

i guess my short question is.. and at this point its just a guess... should i stay port up sub up .. or should i chance it and go sub back port back? with only 2 inchs

the reason i would like to have sub back port back is for amp mounting.. right now its a real bitch to mount and adjust.

thanks guys.

Four inches of clearance is tight and two is even worse. I'd say stick with what you have now if you don't want to risk a lower score but there is only one way to find out which of the two is louder for you. As you know those cars are hard to get loud. 148 is awesome!

If the person that you spoke to is knowledgeable and you can trust what he claims I would listen. Nothing aside from trying it yourself speaks better than someone with the same vehicle. With your equipment you might gain who knows. If it were me I'd probably still try it but not risk it right before the show.

he has an older style lincoln our trunk is diffrent ,, just a bit.. his is bigger,... and its not an easy task to switch it around if its not right.

thanks.

why couldnt you switch it back?

Im no expert by far, but I know for a fact when I put subs in my Lincoln LS (granted) when they were facing rear, they hit so hard and the trunk was so flimsy that the trunk lifted up enough to let enough pressure out. When I flipped them in toward the cabin, they got considerably louder. So basically, my 2cents is if its facing rear/up, would your trunk do that too?
