i have a viper kit on my s10 and when i use the remote start its like my truck wont shift gears like its stuck in either 1st or 4th i cant figure out why it does it. and when i lock it it always says door open

There is an additional accessory wire that engages the relay for the transmission. A relay has to be used to engage the extra wire. Even when the remote is turned off by putting in the key and pushing the brake the transmission relay still won't engage. This is a common occurrence on newer gm's and is noted in directed's wiring guides.

If your alarm is a newer model it will be the 3rd ignition wire and should be connected to the vehicle via a white wire or pink/white wire in the vehicle's ignition harness.

Whatever the problem, be it a faulty alarm output, loose wire, or instal error, the third ignition(white or pink with white wire) aka transmission wire is not being activated upon start-up via the remote start.

Your check engine light will most likely come on when this happens.

You can call directed electronics customer care number and they can confirm the same thing I have told you. It's found on their site.
