Posted December 21, 201113 yr Im going to buy 2 IA death row 18's from a guy today. Everything checks out so far except one coil on one of the woofers is reading 2.8 ohms. Is that anything to worry about? He said IA gave it to him that way.
December 21, 201113 yr Author Welcome .... What do the other coils measure on a DMM?2.2 and 2.1 ohm. Thats why im a little iffy about it and came here to ask

Thats why im a little iffy about it and came here to askBasically your measuring the DCR of the coil and there will be some + - in the readings. As long as it measures close to the other readings I would not worry to much. If it read 0 or on off the wall number I would stay away.

I know if it keeps jumping crazily or reads 0 then the coil is bad. I just didnt think a 2.2 reading compared to a 2.8 reading on the coils was anything to worry about
December 21, 201113 yr I wouldn't buy it. That's a variance of more than 25%, which I would think production tolerances for a voice would be tighter than 25%. It may indicate that there is a problem or an impending problem.
December 22, 201113 yr That is a large difference compared to the others. A 1/10th of an omh variance wouldn't worry me, 1/2 of an ohm or more would.... Just like stated above^^
