Posted December 22, 201113 yr Some background:I have always been a Sundown audio and FI audio fan and those are the products I use. I purchased a 12" BL fully loaded and 1500D sundown to place in my 240sx, I have now upgraded to a 04 Acura TL. I cannot afford a new headunit as the products available are close to one thousand dollars. So, the box is built, the sub is ready, the wiring kit is sitting waiting to be installed. Now where im stuck,So, since i have the stock headunit I will need a line output converter. I am unsure how to install this and how it works. Also I am needing to disable the stock subwoofer. I have been reading about how the stock headunit lowers bass at higher volumes to protect the speakers etc, will this affect my subwoofer? Installing items is no problem I just want to make sure im doing everything right and that i am getting the best performance from the system. All advice is appreciated, if anyone has done an install in the same car or a similar please due tell.Cheers!
December 22, 201113 yr i dont know if there's is any factory eq going on, would have to research that. if so then you might have to use a product to correct that. jl clean sweep is advertised to handle this but im not aware if it actually works. im not sure if it will be this simple... but i would think that you can just unplug the subwoofer and tap the wires there for your signal (at least for a normal loc install, this is how you would do it). the jl might require signal from more then just the subwoofer, i have no idea. i was wondering if they had noise canceling in this car, a quick google showed me that its not until 05 that they started using noise canceling in this car, so dont need to worry about that.
