if you have 2 mono amps and you strap them are u getting double the power to that one channel on the master amp? Does it effect ur ohm load to the master amp from ur subs? like if you wire ur subs together to get 1 ohm would you still get 1 ohm power from the master even if it was strapped? thanks

If your amps are 1 ohm stable and you strap them, your power will double. But strapped together your final ohm load will be 2 ohms. Example: 2 sundown 1500s. Each amp puts out 1500wrms at 1ohm. Two strapped together they put out 3000wrms at 2ohms.

If u had 2 2000w amps rated at 1ohm per amp... then it would be a total of 4000w @2ohm when strapped.

That means, the final wiring that leaves 1 positive and 1 negative wire remaining, must be a 2ohm load (typical DCR of 1.2-1.9ohm)

power acoustik 6000d's. there new . they are 3500 watt stable at 1 ohm. but my speakers are dual 6 so they will only go down to 1.5 together. what if there strapped would i still get 1.5 power or 3?

jbl gti mk2's 15's so i would get a 3 ohm load strapping them and it would be the same as wiring individual to 3 ohm ?

You should gain a little power by strapping. It will also be easier to set the gains on the amps.

If the amps are 1ohm stable, then when "strapped" the minimum impedance they would be able to accept is 2ohm. Do not strap the amps onto a 1.5ohm load.

With 2 dual 6ohm drivers, you could not wire the subs together into a 3ohm load. Which means you could not strap your amps to a 3ohm load. Your options wiring the subwoofers together to strap the amps, would be 1.5ohm and 6ohm.

Your best option is to run one sub per amplifier at 3ohm. This would be exactly the same as strapping the amps and wiring the subwoofers together at 6ohm, but I think strapping unnecessarily complicates things. Just run one amp per sub.

The other option is to sell your amps and purchase something that may be more suitable for your goals.

And don't get confused on the subwoofer impedance. The impedance of the load (the impedance the subs are wired to) doesn't change. If you run the subs in series-parallel for a 6ohm load, then the load is 6ohm.

What does change is the minimum impedance the amplifier(s) are able to drive when strapped. The minimum impedance doubles, since each amp effectively "sees" half of the load. If the minimum impedance each amp is individually able to be ran at is 1ohm, then when strapped the minimum impedance would be 2ohm. This is why it would be bad to strap them into a 1.5ohm load.
