im making a box for 2 12 Fi BL 12's and was wondering do i need a baffle for the 12's? becuse if i baffled it would mess with the volume and tuning of the box? sooo? not sure. the port is located inbetween the 12's. anyones 2cents?

A baffle refers to the panel the speakers are mounted to.

I believe your asking about doing a double baffle, two panels glued together?

Depending on the dimensions and how you do the double baffle, yes it could reduce the net volume, and increase your tuning frequency, but you can always lengthen the port to compensate for the change.

I'm not suggesting some arbitrary length, you would need to calculate for it.

Posting the material thickness will help others offer advice, otherwise people will likely assume your using 3/4" mdf.

Couldn't he double the baffle outside without affecting volume/tuning much???

Do you mean add a second baffle? I would add a second baffle it won't affect the tuning or box volume by much.

Yes if he did this it would only very slightly change anything.

im using 3/4 MDF, i was thinking what shogen was suggesting. well the 12's are still new so im thinking about making single wall, then after the subs are broken in, slap on another baffle on the outside.

those subs are monsters, just double it up right away. bracing is also a must.

Why would you wait?
