I like the discussion that just took place ... it actually helps ANY amplifier purchaser ...

And on a side note, I suggested other amps because anything can be sold. In the used market, I can sell the JL Amps locally and though I won't get $1200, if it's for more room and a better build, I'd do it. That's my thinking, that's all.

Just looking for the power, keeping the electrical in mind, probably keeping the SQ in mind too lol

You're not going to find a significantly better built amp than the JL's. They aren't the most efficient things in the world, but build quality and design wise they are top notch amps.

Id be very content with the JLs.

I'd stick with the JL's for sure, not really going to find anything except for the HD series that will be a better "quality", i mean very few really.

The real question is whether you want to consolidate to one amp or not. If you do, than ok lets talk options, sundown 2500, rf 2500, DC 2.0K, Audison, Helix, etc....

Keep in mind that constant power at different ohm loads is a lot bigger deal than you might think when talking SQ, true SQ you are playing every frequency, at different frequencies your speakers will give different impedances to the amplifier resulting in small spikes in power and output. so since you have them, stick with JL. IMO they are better quality than anything anyone listed. And efficiency? JL is actually very efficient, just have to remember that electrical is important with them. If your system is slowly dropping in voltage they will just keep pulling more and more amps to make up for it.

I am running JL HD series in my SQ truck and they are amazing amps, not gonna lie, I looked at a lot of different options for years and refused to run JL, finally decided to give them a go to truly honestly compare, and they blow away anything I've ever owned. I've owned a lot, RF, audison, kenwood excelon, alpine, sundown, just to name a few. And yes I realize what forum I'm on and how several people will now post to refute my OPINION!!

Once the JL "latches" into one of it's "gears" (basically an adjustment of the rail voltage), it operates just like any other amplifier. Meaning if you connect a 2ohm load, the JL will "latch" into the "gear" for a 2ohm load, but from that point as the impedance of the speaker increases and decreases so will the output of the amplifier. It would be fairly undesirable to have an amp with truly constant power. For example, a subwoofer playing at or near Fb would be excessively overpowered if power output didn't drop with the increase in impedance.

And efficiency? JL is actually very efficient,

IIRC in the Carsound review the 1000/1 was only in the mid to high 60's for efficiency. Which isn't terrible, but not great either.

The HD amps I believe are more efficient than the Slash series are.

that's good to know about the latching into a specific resistance, i did not know that. Yeah, I thought the slash series were much more efficient than that, not sure what environment that 60 some percent was tested, I know my HD's are in the upper 80's.

Arc would b another high quality choice if ur set on the 1 amp route. Never heard any arc I wasn't impressed with.
