Posted March 27, 201213 yr In the back of my escape there is little room, especially with the rear strut towers protruding about four inches out each side. The space I have to work with is as follows: 40" wide, 24" deep on top, 32" deep on the bottom. which comes out to be about 10 cubes. The height is what can move, although 18" is ideal. I'd like to keep the box rectangular but if I have to make the back slanted for space that's fine. I want the box to be ported but I have very little room. What type of port should I use and will this work for two 18's? Brand is yet to be determined, I'm still in the planning stage.
March 27, 201213 yr if you keep it square, double top, both sides and the front, you have under 8cuft GROSS. So right off the bat, no 2 15s if keeping it square.Using the slant, you would still have under 9cuft GROSS.I do not like this. That would estimate the NET volume to be somewhere around ~6.5-7.2cuft.Why not just one devastating 18?

March 27, 201213 yr Author So my best is one 18 then? Would I see much improvement with one 18 over two 12s? Also what about the port?

March 28, 201213 yr Author Are those in any kind of order? Looking for the best output that doesnt kill my savings. Thanks for all the help!
March 28, 201213 yr I do not know pricing for all but all of those choices are capable of destroying your escape if box is built right.Best output comes from the box, not the subwoofer.

March 28, 201213 yr Try to find a BTL N2 or an older one. On 1500 w, you'll love it.Shizzon gave you a good list to check !

March 29, 201213 yr Author I don't want to start another thread. But do I just make a basic box in that space with bracing? Then mount the 8" Aero inside the box flush with the outside. Double layer 0.75 mdf for the top.

Double layer 0.75 mdf for the top.well the box design would have to account for the bracing used. im not too familiar on the best way to brace a box, but i think that would include 45's in the corner and vertical and horizontal bracing with large dowels or ripped down 2x4s. i would deff double the top layer atleast. good bracing in the box is a must. perhaps double baffle all around if you have space and no concern for weight. you would need to confirm a single 8" port is enough for the subwoofer. a single 8" port is only 50 in^2 of port. im guessing the blt has about 30mm Xmax. so 1 port is not enough. http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31i would just go with a slot port design to save money.
April 25, 201213 yr ya..that seems a little small for 2 18s but either one 18 or 2 15s would be great for the room.
