OK this is what I have,

1-12" single 4ohm PG Xmax sub

PWR 400 wavelength amp-600wrms @ 4ohms and clarion x-over

pioneer deck

box is 2.5cuft tuned to 30hz, with-in specs of what PG suggests.

gains are set correct.

This is what happens, I play a song like, Late night tip or some lil john, songs that I think hit pretty low, and SHIP does it get loud and low, but as soon as I put on anything that has hard bass, it doesn't get near as loud I mean nothing, nothing short of cranking it and adding bass boost will help, but this isn't what I want to have to do.

This is in a 90 acura TRUNK not hatchback, sub facing back of trunk and the port is on the same side as the sub.

my thoughts.

box is tuned to low maybe tune to, 33-35hz

sub is just not a SQ sub, very possible

I've also tried higher x-over points like 60-80, this is a little better

Volume is usually 30 of 40 when I crank it.

Tranfer function. Try moving the enclosure around and facing differently. You are experiencing, either cancellation or a lack of output due to the enclosure reacting to the vehicle negatively reverting back to the transfer function.

Well theres not much more I can do, other then face the sub toward the back seats I will try it, but I thought the way I have it is pretty much the way it is suggested.

Transfer function, FRF, H1 estimators, blah, blah, blah.

Basically you have two influences on your sub sound. The first and foremost is your sub playing, the second is the response of the car. When you put the two together you get the transfered response of the sub which TF is referring to correctly as the transfer function. It is an FFT term used to describe the influence of multiple sound/vibration sources acting together and what their summed output is (when you sum it could be a negative value with a positive equaling cancellation). i.e. you might have put your sub into a spot where the bass is cancelling itself due to the reflections in your car. Shoot it another way and see, don't just try the cosmetic locations but try others too. Perhaps you will have to build a new box firing a different direction to get it to sound good. You just need to make sure of that by trying your current one in a lot of locations to check it out. Let us know what happens!
