Posted July 23, 201213 yr I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this. Im sure this is a very basic and easy process but have never done it before. I am wanting to run a battery to my amp and need to know the best way to do it. I have seen people with a battery in their car connected to their amp; would you do this rather than running your amp off of your cars main battery? or is what im seeing more like an extra power source? Answers are greatly appriciated !Thanks.
July 24, 201213 yr what ur seeing is an extra power sourcedepends what kinda power your gonna be running ?? whats ur setup gonna be ??
July 24, 201213 yr Not an extra power source, an extra power reserve. The alternator is still the only source of electrical power in the car. The battery or batteries simply store that energy until it is needed in larger doses than the alternator can deliver in one shot. The larger the reserve, the less the voltage will dip when the reserve is tapped; however, the reserve can't make up for a higher average current draw than the alternator can deliver.
