Working on buddys stereo today in his jeep. Already had 3amps hooked up and everything was working perfectly fine. Was installing a fourth amp for his bullet tweeters. After wiring everything up and splitting the remote wire again to run a strand to the tweeter amp and turned the car on and none of the amps powered up......

Anybody ever encounter this problem or has any advice of what the issue is. Fuses are all good double checked remote wiring at amps and hu. Just weird never had such a thing happened to me before with a simple amp instal nor have i ever needed 4amps either.

Presuming that the remote 12v wire isn't disconnected anywhere down the line, then it sounds like you need to use a relay because all four amps are attempting to draw more current then the rem line can provide.

You could try disconnecting the fourth amp from the circuit, and make sure the rem works as it did before, just in case it's something else.

I agree with stefanihnote, do you know how to set up your relay?

If you use a relay, try to get a 75 ohm coil. Some have a low resistance and can pull quite a bit of current. The deck typically only supplies 500mA

Tried this and it didnt work still....

you may have already burnt out the remote line then.

Make sure the line hasn't come loose from the headunit.

Besides that, you will have to tap off ignition wire from now on until you get a new headunit again.

I'd take a meter and check the remote turn on wire to ground and make sure you get 12v.

I don't think that is a good idea. Relays are cheap. What do you have the rocker switch wired to? What is the current rating on the switch? If you have a lot of current running through a switch that can be a potential fire hazard. They are designed as a low current control for a circuit, not to be used for passing any kind of real current.

+ wire ran to battery and - wire ran to battery then ran the remote wires to the accessory connector on the rocker. Direct current from the battery instead of from the hu.
