Posted September 29, 201212 yr hey guys, im just curious to know everyones thoughts on the sundown sa8 v2s. pros and cons of the sub and does anyone know if there is a sa10 v2 in the making?
September 29, 201212 yr Sa 8 = a bad ass 8 inch driver, but Lantz why are you looking at an 8? The rest of the Sa series V2 is most likely going to be a while.

September 29, 201212 yr sold my bl 15 and picked up an sa8 v2 about a week ago, running it off a sundown sae 1200D @ 2 ohms, i found a box design on another forum and built it.first impression i wasnt blown away but after break in i turned the gain up to about 3/4 and i am now very happy with it,it gets low and loud for being a single 8. great sub!
September 29, 201212 yr honestly this sub is just my beater until i get something bigger so i just dropped it in my trunk and wired it, i not worried about blowing it or anyhting. stupid, i know..
October 1, 201212 yr honestly this sub is just my beater until i get something bigger so i just dropped it in my trunk and wired it, i not worried about blowing it or anyhting. stupid, i know.. you turned the gain up to 3/4? if you have a hot pre amp 4-5V then your sending a 100% clipped signal to that sub which in return will blow the sub so i hope you really don't care about blowing it, but doing it stupidly is even dumber. you can't make up for power or cone area by turning the gain up, the gain is not a volume knob.EDIT: sorry for the thread jack Lantz Edited October 1, 201212 yr by ChILL
October 11, 201212 yr Popular Post We've had lots of positive feedback on it pretty well across the board. A few things to keep in mind :1) It's still an 8" woofer. So it's not going to out-perform a well installed comparable quality 12" woofer.2) The main reason to get one is for a SMALL ported box; 0.5-0.75 per driver is perfect. This in mind it is somewhat difficult to install ONE of them unless you go with a PR as the port gets pretty long.3) The low-end extension is actually MUCH better than you would think -- I have three in 1.5 cubes in one of my cars tuned to 30 hz. It PEAKS at 29 Hz at ~145dB with windows down. So pretty darn impressive in that much box volume.4) Often times people get the idea it's an SPL driver -- which we do offer custom options as such -- but the stock unit is centered around lots of bottom end output and overall it's a pretty low disortion driver.Overall I couldn't be happier with it for what we designed it for. I am not sure how many owners are on this particular forum but the uptake is over 2x faster than the older SA-8 model so there are tons of them out there with great feedback to us Edited October 11, 201212 yr by sundownz
