ok I want to upgrade my system.

I'm either going for 2 fi sp4 18" in a big ported box or 8 sundown sa15 in a forth order.

I know they're really different systems but what would you choose???

(not planning to compete, just a daily groundpounder)

4 SP4s would destroy something.

I've heard both setups in various designs before and while both sound good on music, the SP4 purely has that brute force that just keeps getting louder and louder without losing it's quality of sound(when leaving xmax) like most other subs do.

I've never heard the sp4, no one around has them.

Flip a coin. A lot will come down to the build.

8 entry level subs vs. 4 top of the line subs....I'd do the sp4s for sure.

Okay maybe not entry level but you get the point.

I wouldn't say top of the line, being that an N3 will run you more money and be louder.

If the OP wanted to, he could get the SPL coils for the SAs Thermal will be pretty much equal. The weight of the 15" cone should help with the subs being peaky.

I've never tried spl coils. probably not a good idea for a daily system. am I right?

My vote goes towards sp4 hands down.

In reference to the top of the line comment about SP4s-

I have never heard an LMS Ultra in person before but understand that it's the pinnacle of sound quality for very loud users...

In that aspect, if i knew what the SP4 sounded like prior, or if it were out when i bought all my subs, i would(And still thinking about it!) ditch what i got and go with them.

I would put the SP4s right along side the LMS'. I can't see how they could sound any better.

You don't know quality if you've never heard it. Once you get them, you'll be hooked.

They are just flatout awesome.

I would go with the SP4 personally.
