Posted December 30, 201212 yr Hi, I was wondering, as the alternator put out there max output on around 1500rpm or something like that, on my car, that has an electronic idle control system, Is there some part or something to raise and keep an certain idle speed by the press of a button or something similar? Thank you.
December 30, 201212 yr should be an adjustment on the gas pedal....No, all idle adjustment is done electronically and/or with a screw on the throttle body. Now, you can jerry rig some shit and effectively shorten your cable opening the butterfly. You can get a chip with two or more tunes loaded so you could use that as a switch. Or you could use the easiest tool of all, your foot.
December 30, 201212 yr Author That's what I'm avoiding, to have to be pressing the pedal and starring at the rpm gauge, lol.
December 30, 201212 yr In your car you may be able to just wedge a quarter in at the throttle body if its for comps, if not comps and just demoing the just use your foot. I remember once I was metering my truck and had my foot on pedal and holding at 2k rpm, I looked up a few seconds in and had the tach buried at 5000rpm. Scared the piss out of me. Throttle is touchy in this diesel. Haha
