February 28, 201312 yr Author so some interesting information on this topic. after talking with DC power they told me to take the blue sensing wire coming out of the alt, cut it, put a ring terminal on it, and wire it to the alts hot post. apparently the vehicles sensing wire in some import vehicles is too small and the alt doesnt get the full signal and causes higher voltage and jumping and spiking. so last night i did this and now my voltage is 15.1 at cold start and dropping to normal.
March 1, 201312 yr That makes some logic. The sensing wire just reads the voltage and adjust the alt to keep it at a certain voltage basiclly if your alt is reading 15.3v and the sensing wire is reading 15v, its going to think oooh i need .3+v and crank out 15.6v, but think its only putting out 15.3v
