Posted January 10, 201312 yr Amplifier: Rockford Fosgate T-1000bdRecently whenever I turn on my amplifier, regardless of the vehicle running or any input signal from he head unit, just subwoofer on solely, my subwoofer proceeds to violently shit itself. The noise is absolutely terrible. It's just a one pitch note (pitch varies) and is always extremely loud. This has actually been going on for a while. The noise will happen very sporadically and for different lengths of time. I can go a week without the amplifier doing this or I can go one solid month with the noise every time I turn on the amp, no break. It will also go away for months at a time and then come back with a vengeance. I've figured out that if I detach the ground and power for a period of time and then reattach, the noise will disappear for a while; but usually it comes back within minutes. This used to be a solid fix for the problem but recently it does nothing. I have no idea what to do. My ground is completely fine and all connections are solid. I am currently opening up the amplifier (If i can ever get the sum bitch open) to check and see if there is any visible damage. Really need some help troubleshooting. if you need any specifics just ask. I would really like to get this fixed.
January 10, 201312 yr By "no input signal from the headunit", have you physically disconnected the RCA's from the amplifiers input ? My first thought is turn on pop, which is caused by the amplifier turning on before the HU is completely on. If this is the case physically removing the RCA's from the amp would solve the problem....Obviously not a long term solution, but it would tell you if that is indeed the problem.

There is no difference in the intensity of the noise whether the car is running or not, or if the radio is on or not.Just one loud noise all the time when on. January 22, 201312 yr I had a similar issue once. I switched my grounding location and it solved my mysterious noise problem.
