February 21, 201312 yr That shake was fantastic. 3 a day. When cutting, half a banana. When helping a hard gainer. 2 bananas and exra Udo's
February 21, 201312 yr I cannot eat really intense capsaicin based heat. Horseradish families I am good with, and a fair level of mustard heat too. Peppers can burn their way out though, if I am not careful. I don't think I have ever had a super peppered up curry though. I actually like the "creamier" curry sauces more. I feel I pick up more flavor and subtlety.
February 21, 201312 yr I'm the same way. Don't like the full feeling. Can only eat two or three handfuls at a time. But I can eat every two hours.I trained my body to be that way, then it all went to hell. It's about activity level, adapting to needs, and being active. Our amounts of food were different though. I was in the 3500-7000 kcal level for 4-5 years. I burned off more than I ate though. I was losing pound after pound throughout the whole time. Sometimes i was gaining so much muscle it didnt make the scale move much thougb. I only weigh ~142, but this exact time last year I was 125! Holy shit! I haven't seen 142 since I was about 13. Even when I had cancer and lost all kinds of weight I only got down to ~160. Eating throughout the day actually boosts metabolism. Perhaps you should try 2-3 large meals a day to slow down your metabolism.Eating six small meals throughout the day, or 3 big meals will yield different metabolic rates throughout the day, but at the end of the day it's exactly the same. The thing that changes is the Thermic Effect of Food, which is the energy expended to digest and absorb the food. It's directly proportional to the amount of energy the food contains, 5-10% carb, 0-5% fat, 20-30% protein. Average those numbers together into 11.5% meal one 1000kcal, TEF: 115kcalmeal two 1000kcal, TEF: 115kcalmeal three 2000kcal, TEF: 230kcal4000kcal, total TEF: 460kcal meal one 600kcal, TEF: 69kcalmeal two 600kcal, TEF: 69kcalmeal three 600kcal, TEF: 69kcalmeal four 600kcal, TEF: 69kcalmeal five 600kcal, TEF: 69kcalmeal six 600kcal, TEF: 69kcalmeal seven 400kcal, TEF: 46kcal4000kcal, total TEF: 460kcal At the end of the day the same amount of energy was used, and the metabolism is the same. Now if one changed the composition of those meals than they could alter their metabolism somewhat, but that's getting into something else. At least that's what I learned in Bio. :shrugs: Edited February 21, 201312 yr by stefanhinote
February 21, 201312 yr You talked about toasting spices and Indian food. So funny because I just talked with the wife about how we are goind to start eating more Indian food and I want to learn how to weild the spices.I am a bit nervous about turmeric, it is a root like ginger correct?I also never in my life though of grinding my own chili's. It just never even popled into my head.Though I know it will be a long time beforen I give up onion and garlic powder it's slowly going away. I fucking hate pealing garlic though. time="<p">"1361400517">You talked about toasting spices and Indian food. Doesn't change anything.I'm guessing since you somewhat regularly eat it, or it's the "good stuff?" :shrugs: I've always been immune to heat. Ghost pepper once got my ass warm though.
February 21, 201312 yr My wife will not eat vegis, so every morning, she gets a smoothie with a couple frozen strawberries, some OJ a cup of spinach (or other vegi that is mellow in flavor) and a scoop of protein. Usually an extra few ice cubes. Sometimes I will add milk or extra fiber. She drinks it and it literally has increased her vegi intake by more than tripple I bet.I do this every day, too. Not a lot of leafy green veggies, though. Can't stand most of them. You can't taste the spinach. The vitamix destroys it. We buy the HUGE bag at Costco, use about half of it fresh, then before it goes bad, freeze it and use it frozen.Really makes a difference.<-has never thought of freezing spinach. When mine starts to go I cook it. I can eat a whole Costco box in a sitting that way. in fact I'll be using one for dinner tonight.I thought the exact same thing when I read his post and also do the same thing and cook the rest. I love the taste of spinach and it cooks down so easy I can eat huge helpings.
February 21, 201312 yr I don't really care about shakes for the kcal. What do I put in one? Bunch of bananas, strawberries, milk, sugar?
February 21, 201312 yr This garlic talk is making me hungry for toasted garlic.Better yet boiled garlic in crab boil with a little bit of crawfish.

February 21, 201312 yr Taste, I like to drink big bulks of flavored fluids. Ice tea, ice cream powder with milk smoothed in the blender, yogurt(no flavoring) with water smoothed in the blender, etc.
February 21, 201312 yr Ugh, reading some of the rules of an upcoming Car audio event makes me facepalm. This to be exact:-Two of the scores will be measured with the engine off.-All scores in SPL class are measured with a predefined song. So my alternator won't be charging. Lower voltage-risk for the equipment, lower watts output. And they select a song for you, who cares your system is tuned at XX hertz. I wouldn't worry one bit about the engine-off rule. My score is almost the same engine on or off, during a burp voltage drops to 10.5v. And I've seen it drop lower The song deal is pure crap though. Roll with it, go and have fun

Just give demos all day, the only Sundown system in the country.
February 21, 201312 yr Thinking of making a plywood aero port. Stack the needed number of square pieces of plywood and start carving the outer and inside shape. It will take a full weekend most likely, but damn will it look nice after I finish it with some clear resin and polished. For the length I'll use a pipe or go with 8 side.

That box was a good inspiration for me before I started on the ports. Honestly, to the ear I don't think there is a difference if you make the port big enough. If you are fighting with the meter and think it's worthwhile to gain then by all means do it.
February 21, 201312 yr Just FYI, this is what I have to deal with when I build the new downpipe (2 ugly 90* bends and hugging the engine as close as possible):

I want to have changeable ports for playing around with frequencies and maybe a burp or two just too see what I can do. For me it will be worthwhile to spend many hours sanding and finishing with a polish... so beautiful in my head.
