has anybody driven an 01'-05 Porsche 996 turbo? what are your feelings about them?

I love the fuck out of them. I don't remember what years, but there was a few that had problems with a leak.

The 996 is maybe one of my favorite years especially by look.

It's a 400 horse AWD car with traction control. Throw a set of PS2's on it and there will be no problems hooking up.

They run good on the track. Fairly comfortable for daily driving but have a small cockpit.

i found an 03' with about 50k on it for a fairly good deal and am thinking about trading the hummer for it.

They run good on the track. Fairly comfortable for daily pucking but have a small cock.

Well the viper is more my preference. I was trying to be non biased.

looked at those too, but i think the Porsche fits me better. awd, turbo, small and handles like its on rails.

from a hummer to a 996?

Nah, I flew in yesterday. Short visit in Charlotte. Tomorrow doing consulting at Borg Warner and then a flight home.

Oddly enough I was in a presentation by some Borg Warner folks on the same day.
You weren't in Asheville were you? If it was Diesel Turbo related, that is the group.

.

With a driver that actually knows how to drive the gen three viper tear the the 966 a new one on the track. Although the GT3 will give the viper a workout if its not the ACR model. But that is what the car was designed for. For the track.

They are two completely different driving experiences. If I was going to be driving through town in traffic going to work I would want the 911. If I was cruising on the weekend with a little track time now and then I'd take the viper hands down.

Hopefully ill be back in a viper by Xmas this year.

itll be my DD so i think this is the best option between a cayman S or an m3.

The M3 is a dog compared to the 911. Not even a comparison.

AWD & Turbo true, but it is heavy, ass heavy and far from on rails.

thats why i'm choosing the 996 turbo. quick as hell, nimble and awd

Cayman is teh boring, 911 would be a good daily driver, but so would the M3. Coming off of what you drive they will all seem heavenly.

weight distribution really isn't that bad on the awd though. im not going to do anything stupid in it like Ryan Dunn though either.
