I'd buy an Ultima GTR before an Atom. Haven't driven one, but am sure they are nuts. Sat in Jeff Schwartz's though. If it was nicer out he was going to let me drive it. sad.png

I know you hate the look of the Nissan GTR R35, but have do you driven one?

I will listen across some fiberglass, with glasses of bourbon and smoking big cigars lit with stacks of hundreds.

Haters gonna hate. I'm hate my superficial decisions too, I would give you shit if your budget was 1/10 or 100times as much.

I like the shit. Pretty sure my soccer mom choice shocked everyone when I made it last time, I'll probably do something similar this time too. Although you've all seen the thought process typed out.
Until you mentioned the house sale thing I thought your reluctance to just buy either the speedy whip or the truck and make work pay for the other was nonsensical.

You have worked hard and it is a reasonable indulgence to finally get a truck for what you need and a dream car for what you want. My guess is you work a good triple the hours most of us do.

I've also spent nearly $0 in the past 5 years saving up for the house. I turned my truck and car into cash as well. Only new "toys" in that time were both my snowmobiles which cost me a whopping $1100 more than the two I sold and my boat which was $2k more than the one it replaced. Haven't family traveled or do anything else I normally spend money on. Have no debt (except a small house loan) and am about to seriously fuck myself on that in the opposite direction. Takes a BIG loan to get on Minnetonka.

No. No interest in it either. The Ultima GTR will DESTROY it as will the Rossion which has a nicer interior, exterior, and it cheaper. Hmmm. Driven a couple NSX's and while it isn't a fair comparison I picture the Nissan as a glorified one and expect the characteristics that made the NSX one of the most boring cars I've ever driven to be the same.

Plus we all know you are an ass Sean.

It comes with being local mafia Don.

I need to join that family. My buddy with the escalade who has an uncle that is a plumber. Lives in a house worth about 2M I bet.
My Uncle's buddy gave his 2010 supercharged Escalade to his son...who hates it. Might sell it to me cheap. Sort of started my escapade madness.

Why do you want push button start? Seems trivial.

Until the M5 I hadn't owned a non-Ford Galaxy as a daily driver car for more than a year. I'd almost take a step down to change.

Of course, if I really need to do all sorts of shit to make it acceptable it becomes a law of diminishing returns rather rapidly.

Perhaps you need to lower your expectations to equal your spending limit.

Sounds like a buy the jeep recommendation. Doh.gif

As a mechanic I could never recommend one to a friend in good conscious.

You are either beyond the law of diminishing returns, or you want justification for spending money you don't feel you should spend. You make enough to comfortably spend the money for what you want. So do it. But if you choose to be a cheap ass like me, then settle.

I have some money, but I choose to live modestly. When I got cancer I realized that I needed to have more, for myself and my family, if anything went wrong. I was lucky to live, and even more lucky to be able to go back to work and provide for my family. Neither seemed likely when I was given 6 months to live. And if I live a long life, which is not very likely, I will have plenty to spend my retirement happily. If not, my family can live comfortably for the next couple generations off my work, investments, and frugality.

SO you need to weigh your decision. Either cut back on the car and take what the free ride will afford, or bite the bullet. Either way, get the best that you can or will choose to afford.

I suggest being cheap. But that is just me.

I never thought I needed it as well, but when I don't drive the 550 I miss it. It is awesome never to take the keys out to lock/unlock and to start/stop the car

I thought it was ridiculous and laughed at the option as well...and then I had it.  SHIT.  Can't live without it now.

I suggest being cheap. But that is just me.

And the route I've always taken. I had a non-planned curveball on this car as i was told the brakes were "just done". They were new within a year, but had 20k mi on them. Needless to say needing to do them wasn't planned.

My problem is the cheap option is another GM and I've had seriously TERRIBLE luck with GM. Matters made worse when I don't fit with the stock seating format although that can be overcome and done in budget.
