I may know a thing or 2 about the industry wink.png

Working sales at a Chevy dealership.

Stuck on the finance aspects of it. Wanting to ensure I can make proper cash without a real issue.

"proper" is relative. My second month I made $8k doing it, but that isn't so normal

Just spent almost two hours on the phone with a cousin I don't talk to a shit ton for some advice, as she has worked at a dealership for almost 10 years. While she is not in sales, she does the finance and has some great friends in sales who have told her enough over the years. The discussion eased a good amount of my concerns. Only thing that still has me iffy is the 350 deposit for the training tools

That is refunded after 30 ays, any thoughts on this?

That being said, I need to purchase new long sleeve shirts, some slacks and something comfortable for shoes. Short sleeves and polos are out for me as my tattoos show in them. I have ample ties, and some belts. Shirts are 18 34/35 or XL, shoes are a 10-10.5 and need to have some width as my feet are fat. Add in shitty knees and a back that tightens easily, and I want to ensure my comfort. Any suggestions?

Thanks for all the help over the years guys. Hopefully this will be a step in the right direction.

I will be a happy camper if I am clearing 5k gross a month. It would be quite a bit more than I have been earning.

I agree. Makes them seem like lazy fucks who don't really care.

I mean what salesman is gonna go beyond what he needs to do to satisfy the customer if he's not compensated for the extra effort.

100 per used car straight up plus

1-10 is 25% Gross Profit

11-14 is 30% (retro to 1)

15-19 is 35% (retro to 1)

20+ is 40% (retro to 1)

50$ for each extended service package

10 units is a 500 bonus

12 is 1000

15 is 1500

20 is 2000

Base is 1250 bi weekly

Classic line at dealerships here now. "I am not paid on commission". That is a turn off for me.

I fucking hate hearing that.

Hell the guy who sold me my Tundra made shit easy for both of us.

'I can do the figure your asking for, but at that price I lose all of my comission. Lets meet in the middle. You save some cash, I make my comission. Everyone wins.' Was he full of shit? Somewhat, considering it was brand new. Did it work to hear some honest? Fuck yes.

1250 2x a week is nice.

$100 per car is useless and bullshit. 8 cars is a REALLY good average yearly for most places. ie, you never hit ANY bonuses. You should ask how many guys hit the 10+ unit bonus per month.

And here is where it failed. He lied. You just thought he was telling the truth. He told you what you wanted to hear. That btw is not an effective sales methodology.

Ended up leaving the orientation. Got a call to interview working in assisting Veterans in submitting their VA claims, and suffice to say I have a huge soft spot for Veterans.

Might it be less money than selling cars? More than likely. Is the personal rewards much higher? Yes.

J

I hope you get the veterans job, but I wouldn't leave a job unless I got an offer or didn't need the $$$

My phone just updated to Kit Kat, did not taste very well when I tried to bite it.

Center and I hope it turns into a chunky kit kat later. ;)

Chick in yoga pants with slight camel toe- kinda sexy.

Chick at the gym in yoga pants with visibly sweaty, monster moose knuckle- not so sexy.
