So I'd like to get something slightly more fuel efficient but nothing crazy.

'99 Olds 88 which is basically the same as my old green monster, so I know the car like the back of my hand as I had the monster close to 10 years.

'00 Buick Park Ave, which I like the look of a little more but am completely unfamiliar with.

Both are around the same price, same mileage.  Not definite on buying anything right now, but those have my interest peaked as they're cheap enough to pay for themselves in a couple years.  Even mid-low 20's for MPG would save me a hell of a lot in gas $$.

However I'd have to spend a lot of $$ on sound deadening after I just did it all to my RM, so that'd take some of that savings away along with cost of insurance.

Decisions, decisions.

Sad part is the way our government is going, well that could be our future.

Just don't eat or drink yellow snow.

I don't see houses just blowing down or North Korea sending us products.

Other than that tho, its possible.

Mobile homes fly away all the time. I'm surprised it isn't an Olympic sport by now.

Both have the 3800 Buick motor. The best motor on the road... fucking bulletproof. The 88 will have the 4T60E trans, which is pretty solid. They do have some issues with the torque converter clutch, but it is not like every one has it. The Park has the 4T65E, which is slightly beefier. It suffers the same TCC issues but it is less common. The 4T65E has heavier internals so it does rob a bit of WHP and mileage, but the losses are not tremendous.

Personally I like the Buick better then the Olds, but they have nasty blind spots.

Drive both. They are essentially the same vehicle, powertrain wise. The trans difference is pretty insignificant. Whichever you prefer will be the best bet. It is a great drivetrain, extremely reliable, plenty of power for an NA V6, and really decent fuel economy for a bigish car.

Thanks.  I figured with similar drivetrain and comparable size the MPG would be about the same. I love the 3800, beat the piss out of my old LSS and it ran strong until the trans took a dump.  I've honestly been browsing for a few weeks for full size sedans that I like, and the only things that I can really find that fit my stringent requirements are the Olds 88's like I had and the Park Ave's (I'm a tight ass & won't spend real money on a car).  I didn't think the MPG on my old LSS was great until I started driving this beast.

Main thing that draws me to the 88's are that the 3.8L runs strong & I know every nook and cranny of that car, and for audio purposes I really liked what it had to offer.  Kicks are already vented into the fender and there's a lot of space down there, tons of room in the doors, large rear deck is great for IB.  And I can disassemble that car blindfolded with one arm tied behind my back.

All the brothas around here like boxes. I had a '90 crown Vic with a 8 pack in the back deck and (4) 15's in the trunk. I was pretty well known in the area so I'd drive down to the park with em on Sundays and hang out for a hour or two.

Lol ... and to think my wife wants to go to Joe's Crab Shack (Bossier City) for our anniversary ...

I need to show here that ...

ANY other crab shack would be better. Joe's is horseshit. They can fuck up anything.
Never been there, but read great reviews on it. Joe's in Daytona was good, the wife was not with me on that trip.

Thanks for the info, but thats where she wants to go ...

Suit yourself. I eat out for a living pretty much. Absolutely the worst crab shack I've ever been to. Tried a couple Joe's (not by my choice) with always the same results. Even if you live in bum fuck nowhere there has to be a better choice.

Not only do you have to eat out for 80% of your meals, you don't have to expense cheap restaurants either, you can get the good stuff.  smile.png

Had beef tongue, sweetbreads, tartare, & grouper for dinner tonight. YUMMY

I've ate some pretty crazy shit too. Indians cook some really nasty looking shit that is surprisingly good. Out of all the food I've had from different nationalities I think I prefer Greek.

I had American food tonight.

I didn't have tripe tonight, almost did Mexican but went for the gastropub experience instead. First real meal I've had in the South. Amazing how shitty the restaurants are in general. Had no idea Asheville had culture, but I'm happy.

Asheville, NC ? We normally stay at the builtmore every April. We have a couple caning in Gatlinburg, TN. We stay a few days in gatlinburg hiking, taking pics, ect. Then take a ride to Ashville stay at the builtmore for a few nights. The Vanderbilts have an awsome garden in the spring.

Cabins not caning

Mamacita's taqueria on biltmore ave is probably the best Mexican place in Ashville.
