Your disappointed comment made my heart sink.

That was partially intended.  I needed someone else to feel my pain for a brief moment.

I knew something was up because the demo unit already sounded better than anything I had plugged into my head.

I honestly thought maybe the 6 drivers per eat were so inefficient that my phone was having trouble driving them... But I used my phone in the store.

You know I have laughed off "break in" on speakers before but maybe it's much more real and does in fact take longer than a few seconds to happen. The bass is becoming this beautiful place where I can hear details within bass. That's super new for me.

I can hear guitar strings being touched on really awesome speakers, on these I'm starting to hear the same on a bass guitar, I'm hearing the lead into and fade out on a drum being hit. Any way it's a whole new world.

I'm so glad I found them, then you went to them and made up my mind. Should have stepped up years ago.

That's right, the Holland's bike. So the big tires don't kill the efficiency on the road?

I ran out of gear on the one I tested. It won't win a road race but I do feel the lost efficiency is exaggerated.

If you don't got off-road but a road bike. If you go off-road but also have to be in pavement sometimes a fat bike is not a bad option.

Laughs at curbs.

Or we both get fatty bikes and if I get bored I hit the ditches or something.

I did this winter, but here it is again.

Could you send a little snow my way?

Next bike will be for the wife. Comfort will be a priority, but I do't want her to end up with something so much more inefficient that I feel like I'm barely moving on my bike.

What do you ride?

There is nothing more comfortable than a fat bike

It isn't that it is slower, but it definitely takes more energy than my road bike

First day i ran out of gear without a hill.  Was spinning out and doing a hair over 25mph.  Couldn't hold that for long though.

Front sprocket is a 28 and the small rear a 10.  42 on the up hill end.

Going to break 100mi on the fatties this week :) i smile the whole time too

I'm on a 2009 vintage Trek 1.2 (Sora components)

Ha, 2009 isn't vintage.  My road bike is an 82 Trek. ;)

Anything with knobby tires will be slow and comfortable in comparison.  I have my wife on a 2005'ish Giant XTC NRS.  Full squish and reasonably rolling efficiency tires with enough knobs to grab on loose gravel for confidence.

How athletic/biking capable is she?  How about conditioning in comparison?

Vintage in the true sense of the word :)

She can ride a bike and she's more athletic that she claims. She's a swimmer. Her workout swim speed is just a tad slower than my all out sprint speed and she can swim a mile no problem.

Biggest thing for her will be getting comfortable with clip in pedals.

Comfort and road bike don't match.  Although getting something that takes at least 28mm tires helps a shit load.

Do you ride in your drops much?

Agreed, though it is relative. Im fine using my road bike daily or on 30+ mile rides
