August 27, 201312 yr Reading about the poor job market for organic chemists with MS/PhDs is depressing--even with big pharma.Changed my display name in an attempt to reduce my internet presence. I should have never used my real name anywhere to begin with. Bio chemis BOOMING!Where did you hear that?
August 27, 201312 yr I guess, if you consider a few hundred thousand a year decent.Yup!2 times the pharma paycheck. You dont make shit in pharmapsudicals without a PHD and usually an MD. Unless you un it or sell the drugs. Then you can "sail" into 200k
August 27, 201312 yr We'll see in 5 - 8 years. Its not going anywhere.Nanotevh amd biomedical is the future of medicine.

I should have never used my real name anywhere to begin with. Bio chemis BOOMING!Where did you hear that?Aside from Google, I follow a few chem blogs, and most of them point out that the market in general sucks, especially now, and the comment sections of the articles are filled with people having MS/PhDs saying "I was a bench chemist at blah blah blah, got laid off." "I was a TS organic chemist at blah blah blah, got laid off", one after another. I even see comments of people just now finishing up their MS/PhD and other chemists are saying change careers now! It might be a little exaggerated, but it's depressing to read for me. biochem market didn't seem like it was very far off from chem market, hopefully it's better, or it'll get better.
