Posted January 24, 201312 yr I have a 4.1 cubic foot box with a IA DR 15 in it with a round port. It's tuned to 30hz with a 4" diameter and a 10" long tube that come out to 12.5 "sq area.I have not listened to it yet, but is this enough port area? Will it hurt the sub?
January 24, 201312 yr Author I know I fucked up it was my first box but just trying to see if it would still work before cutting a bigger hole and putting in bigger pipe.

January 25, 201312 yr Author How many sq" should I have? Is 20 enough? No, how much power are you running?I can get 29 sq" of port area with a 6" diameter. Only 900wrms running to it so would it matter?

January 25, 201312 yr Author Could I put a second 3" port? Can't fit another 4, but I could do an 8" with 50sq" area too.
January 25, 201312 yr http://diysubwoofers.org/misc/portcal.htmAbout half way down the page gives a good formula to use to estimate the minimum port area you should have.

January 25, 201312 yr Author It would look alot better with another 3" though, could I do that?It would be to small I think. Thanks rick. Edited January 25, 201312 yr by daveishome
