Posted February 27, 201312 yr My amplifier keeps getting EXTREMELY HOT and going into protection mode after 30-45 minutes of listening to music. I bought a 4.4 Farad capacitor to help fix the problem but it keeps happening.. Any suggestions?I have a Acura RSX 2003 with 4 Pioneer TS-A1604C 6.5 Speakers, Boss PH4.600 Phantom 2400 Watt Mosfet 4-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier, and a 4.4 Farad Capacitor. I am very sure I installed everything correctly because it sounds very good but after 30-45 minutes It goes into protection mode. Also, I forgot to mention I have a radio JVC KDX50BT which has a integrated parametric. That is why I didn't have to buy a separate one. I don't know if this is of any importance but I am trying to put as many information I can.
February 27, 201312 yr get a DMM and check the impedance of each channel you have hooked up... right off it sounds like you may be running it below its ohm load threshold
February 27, 201312 yr Author get a DMM and check the impedance of each channel you have hooked up... right off it sounds like you may be running it below its ohm load thresholdWhen you say "check the impedance of each channel you have hooked up" what do you mean? I am sorry for being a noob. English not being my first language doesn't help either lol.

February 27, 201312 yr get a digital multi meter and select ohm mode, and check each channel and see what it says.. do you know what each channel should be running at?
February 27, 201312 yr Author get a digital multi meter and select ohm mode, and check each channel and see what it says.. do you know what each channel should be running at?Right now I don't, but the amp's manual should say right? Well I should rephrase, one tweeter and mid per channel?I have 2 fronts speakers + 2 rear speakers (with tweeters) bridged into 2 channels. Then the sub woofer bridged too.
February 27, 201312 yr there is your issue.. it sounds like you have the 2 channels ran at 1 ohm mono... how is your sub wired? im not familier with the boss amps but i doubt it a 4 channel 1 ohm stable
February 27, 201312 yr So you have two component sets hooked up to two channels bridged <<<(probably the issue)? Then one sub hooked up to two channels bridged? What subwoofer?

February 27, 201312 yr it would be 2 ohms stereo .. but he has it brided 4 4 ohms speakers in mono is 1 ohm
February 27, 201312 yr it would be 2 ohms stereo .. but he has it brided 4 4 ohms speakers in mono is 1 ohmMy bad I meant the amp is stable at 2 per channel.

February 27, 201312 yr first things first you need to unbridge the channels running your front and back speakers.. you can run them 2 ohm stereo...( two speakers on each channel) and the amp shows to only be bridgable at 4 ohms. so we need to work out that sub issues too.. waiting for the modle and impedance of the sub to work that out.. here are the specs on the amp Max Power RatingsTotal Power: 2400 WattsMax Bridged Power @ 4 Ohms: 1200 Watts x 2Max Power @ 2 Ohms: 600 Watts x 4

February 27, 201312 yr Yeah what do those wires go directly to? Where are your speakers wired together? I'm referring to ch 1 & 2.

Then the sub woofer bridged too. your picture shows other wise I think I explained my self wrong in the beginning. I am sorry for that let me try to give you all the info in this post. What I've done is CH 1 is for both Left speakers (front and back) and CH 2 for right speakers (front and back). Then, bridged CH 3 & 4 for the sub.
February 27, 201312 yr Author Yeah what do those wires go directly to? Where are your speakers wired together? I'm referring to ch 1 & 2. Those speaker wires go to the front where the original speaker wires were when the car had original Audio System. What I did is, I bought a connector to avoid cutting the original wiring, so those wires you are talking about they go to the front and then I matched them to the original (factory) speaker wires.
February 27, 201312 yr Author ok 1 and 2 are 2 ohm stereo... whats up with the info on the sub???What info do you need from the sub? I will try and get it for you right now.
February 27, 201312 yr mainly if its dual or single voicecoil and what impedance it is.. dual 4 dual 2 single 4 or single 2
February 27, 201312 yr Author mainly if its dual or single voicecoil and what impedance it is.. dual 4 dual 2 single 4 or single 2Its single coil and the impedance I will try and get the info right now. Also, I will take a picture to the gains and frequency so you can tell me if they are right or not.
February 27, 201312 yr Author also list the setting on the head unit. I don't know if you can see it but if you turn brightness up you will see it. Edited February 27, 201312 yr by KeboPR

Too much for your amp to handle.
