Posted March 10, 201312 yr I'm looking to pick up some new subs for my truck. Looking to keep it stealthily looking. So ether behind or under the rear seat of the truck. I have a crew cab Chevy. I'm looking at Alpine 10" swr-t10Jbl ms-10sd2Sundown Sa-10 d2Sundown SD-2 10 D4Sundown SA 8 v.2 D2
March 10, 201312 yr Author I will probably end up building my box. I think I may enough room under the rear seat. But i won't? know for sure until Tuesday.
March 10, 201312 yr thats step one,. unless your willing to do a seat lift, there is not alot of room down there. most shallow mounts just dont seem to have the balls, but if your crafty and can build a nice box with good space then you will have a good shot. use the search bar for for chevy 1500 or crew cab or so on and so forth.. there has been a hand full of memebers on here that have done builds in that model truck and maybe there build logs can help you ,.
March 14, 201312 yr Author I think that I'm gonna get a pair of SA-8 V.2 D4. I think i figured out a way to fit them in under the back seat with everything.

March 14, 201312 yr Author Why would you say that it is a dumb conclusion. They seem to be good subs. I dont have a lot of room to deal with because I want to use my truck for more than just filling it with subs. What would you do with limited space? I have not purchased anything yet and still looking for opinions. So instead of just say its stupid help a guy out with your opinion since I ask and I'm a big boy and can handle it.

Until you measure I honestly wouldn't go any further. Please don't get offended by the comments that you are receiving as you are asking for help without doing anything to help us help you. March 14, 201312 yr Author When I made the post I had a good idea what i could fit where I anted to put everything. Just a matter of a couple for sure measurements. I measured everything on Tuesday night when i got home from work amd with a modification I can make it work out size wise. What is you thjnk of the sa 8v2? Edited March 14, 201312 yr by jperfect
March 14, 201312 yr Author Little info for what i have for measurements under the rear seat. Right now 6.5" tall by 22" deep width of the back seat. To make this work I'm gone to put a 2in block under the rear seat to raise it.
March 15, 201312 yr What year is this? 2" ain't gonna work. The tabs on the back of the seat won't have anything to hold on to.
March 15, 201312 yr Author What year is this? 2" ain't gonna work. The tabs on the back of the seat won't have anything to hold on to.Hey thanks never even seen that. I will have to how to make this work or something different. What do u suggest
March 15, 201312 yr Lifting your seat first and then measuring carefully. After that start driver shopping.
March 15, 201312 yr Author I was thinking of lifting it 2in that would give me 8.5in. You still think lift, measure then shop?
March 16, 201312 yr If you aren't competent at measuring it doesn't even hurt in a truck situation to build the base of the box. Currently there is NO WAY you can tell us how much volume you really have to work with. If your estimate is off whatever you buy you get to sell and rebuy something else.
March 16, 201312 yr Author The height I know I can make work. I have to figure out something for the deck behind the seat to keep it up and stable. I will get some more exact measurements and see what you think.

I will have to how to make this work or something different. What do u suggestThere are tabs on the back of the seat that slide into the rear wall of the cab. Something akind to a ironing board hanging over the top of a door. For safety reasons I wouldn't go any higher than the stock floor bolt will allow. ~1 inch. I have easily done over 200 boxes under the back seats of trucks. Depending on the year under the bottom of the seat will be hollow. Therefore a downfired box can have a hump by the speaker magnet to allow for a deeper sub. You have a lot of options. Your budget will determine which route to go. Personally if it was my vehicle I would do a single Jl W6 12 or SSA ICON 12 downfired. The enclosure would go all the way across the back seat with the sub on the driver side and the port on the passenger side with the port exiting towards the passenger door. However my build skills are fairly above average.
March 17, 201312 yr Author Ok guys. I finally did some detailed measuring. Looks like i have 8x21w by 23 deep. I think its comes just over 2.2 cf. I think it will in the end, end up about 1.75 may because of the jogs that will have to be made. If i fire the sub down i can push the bottom of the seat up another .5 in. So it looks as if i had more room than i thought, even know that i did measure in a rush the other day.
