March 15, 201312 yr Author read this: When should I use a 2-amp, 10-amp, 12-amp, or 15-amp charge rate? This depends on how fast you want to charge your battery and thesize of the actual battery you are charging. The higher the ampsetting, the faster your battery will charge. For smaller batterieslike lawn/tractors and motorcycles, we suggest a 2-amp charge rate, ashigher charge rates may create a dangerous condition. Check yourbattery specifications for the charge rate. Certain batteries likedeep-cycle batteries with a Group Size of 27 or higher may require a12-amp charge rate or higher to be charged. Why doesn't my battery charger shut off in the 2-amp position when charging my vehicle or deep-cycle battery? The 2-amp charge rate is intended for small batteries such asmotorcycles, snowmobiles and lawn garden tractors. Consequently, whentrying to charge a larger battery at that rate, it will take a verylong time and the battery may discharge at a greater rate than the2-amp charge can provide. It is best to charge at a higher charge ratelike 6-amps, 10-amps or higher. Why does my deep-cycle battery overheat when my charger is in the deep-cycle setting? Some deep-cycles batteries on the market will not sustain 15+ voltsettings. If during charging the battery begins to emit gas, or if thebattery becomes warm, use the Regular Battery Setting. This will bettermaintain the battery’s life.
March 15, 201312 yr Author here it says to charge them at 15 amps ... http://www.down4sound.com/forum/showthread.php?364-How-should-I-charge-my-XS-Power-Batteries-to-prolong-the-life-of-the-battery so i should be fine using the 12 amp setting...
March 15, 201312 yr Yea you'll be fine on 12a. I use a smart charger that does up to 14a iirc but drops to 2amp once it reaches a certain point. Then shuts off and keeps the batteries on a "float"
