Posted March 23, 201312 yr Today will be my first competition. Its only local but it still is exciting for me. Im mostly excited to see what numbers Im putting up as Im running my system and to see how things are operated as ive never even attended a show before. Wish me luck! Goin to rep some SSA and convert some of these main stream nut huggers
March 23, 201312 yr Author Awesome man! Nice score! Is it? Never been in a vehicle before that I knew how loud it was. Before going I assumed I would hit 150db. But isn't 147.9 at 32hz harder than say 42hz? Or am I dreaming lol? Thank you for the compliment! Edited March 23, 201312 yr by AXEHAMMER

March 23, 201312 yr 150 is not as easy as people like to think it is.... nice score but i am confused... 147 sealed and outlaw?
March 23, 201312 yr Author Thanks nem. Ya john i was surprised too. My wife held mic in her floorboard/dash area and I opened my door back and forth which is what someone there did with good results so I tried it. Only did a 154 in port wars
March 23, 201312 yr thats odd... when metering outlaw you want to place the meter as far in the foot panel corner as you can.. on the opposite side of the door open.. i have never seen a car do the same number sealed as outlaw, that is crazy. how many people were in your class?
March 23, 201312 yr your frequency peak changes from sealed to outlaw so that may be why it appears to be the same score. your 154 in port wars...I'm assuming your port is just straight right? no bends? In port wars, those who have bends in their port will always generate a LOT MORE pressure in the corner of the port. My last street box in my car was doing a ~147 at the headrest with the door open but in port wars because of how i designed the L shape of the port, it registered a 166.8db. In KY and especially in TN as well, we have many competitors and judges who have and still compete that can provide MANY tips from experience on things to do to get louder.
March 23, 201312 yr Author There were 6 in my class. 25 total. next comp ill just play a sweep outlaw to see where my sweet spot is. obviously 32 sealed loli have two ports turning into one
March 23, 201312 yr a sweep will only get you in the general area. Sweeps play too fast and if you are running a lot of power per driver, slow producing sweeps will produce poor results due to power compression. You can do a sweep at moderate volume but you still need to go back and play single frequency tones +/- 5hz or so from what the sweep said at full tilt.
March 28, 201312 yr Congrats man! Way to represent. How long have you been doing this before you decided to compete? Building systems I mean...
March 28, 201312 yr Nice job man! Where was this at? There was a MECA show here in Nashville the same day.
