I'm really on the fence about this one. Don't really understand all the possibilities or what u can do with both style amps. Currently only have 4 2 way speakers and no amp and I'm not really sure if I'll ever be switching over to components. If I don't ever make the switch..is there any difference between a 2 and 4 channel on just 2 ways?

Correct me if I'm wrong but if I have a 4 channel with components I can connect the tweeters to 2 channels then the mids and highs to the other 2?

I'm eyeing the fosgate t400.2 and .4 there's only like a 15$ diff between them but the .4 is out of stock and I don't really wanna wait.. :/

With that head unit you should use a 4 channel amp to power your 2ways.No to the second question.

new understanding...the crossover allows the tweeters to be run on the same channel as the speakers right? so then you could just wire them the same as the 2 ways correct?

Bingo!

so every speaker gets its own channel for either 2 way or component set up?

does a lot of music take advantage of a 4 channel set up?-ive never heard one so i dont really know

Alot of us just like to run front speakers and tweeter. Plus the sub no rear speakers. To me it sounds better.

My rear fill has no tweeters, just  mid bass drivers and it sounds great.

Music is recorded in stereo. That means a left and right channel

So in that case there's no real need for more than 2 channels?

And if its 2 channel its right and left not front and rear correct?
