Posted April 9, 201312 yr Hey guys. bought myself a new toy as some of you may know. now that its here and i have a little bit of time i want to install it but i havent done anything like it before so i have a few questions to shoot at u guys. all my speakers are single 4ohm and i will be wiring the amp at 2 ohms. she gives out 260rms per channel according to the birth sheet. Some of my new equipment: Amp wiring kit:KnuKonceptz complete ofc 4g 4-channel kithttp://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KOL-AK4-4 Amp:Rockford Fosgate T400-2http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8893_Rockford-Fosgate-Power-T400-2.html?SearchClickout%5Bquery_id%5D=18989027&SearchClickout%5BIgnore%5D=1 Gain knob:Punch PEQhttp://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8773_Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-PEQ.html And now for my questions: 1. The remote wire on the back of my HU is already hooked up to my T1000 so instead of having another wire sticking out from there wouldnt it just be better to stick a 3 foot wire out of the T1000 remote plug in into the T400 remote plug in? 2. my HU is bolted into place and im not sure if i will ever be running a 4 channel. would anything happen if i pluged in 2 sets of RCA's in the HU and only used one? one suggestion i heard was to plug em both in and just electrical tape the not used ones (sticky side out). 3. Wiring. all are single 4ohm voice coils. will be wiring at amp 2 ohms (how this works blows my mind hence why i wanna clarify). to wire at 2 ohms i need to wire in parallel. meaning each speaker will get its own positive and negative wire to the positive and negative amp terminal? heres a diagram from the 12v of just how 1 channel will look. double checking to see if i made any mistakes. http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp?Q=2&I=41#results i tip my hat to you kind sir for reading this far!now please help with advice
April 10, 201312 yr You don't need another remote wire, just connect to the one you already have. You can connect the rca cables but not hook them to an amp, it won't hurt anything at all. I wouldn't electrical tape them though, it might leave some residue on the ends if you ever do use them. I'd just wrap them in some plastic and zip tie it myself. Make sure they cannot touch each other though. As for the amp load - I assume you are connecting the left channel to 2 left speakers and the right channel to 2 right speakers. If so then you are correct, just parallel each side together. You don't have to run a wire from each speaker to the amp though, you can if you want but you don't have to. If they are both in the same door you can just run one wire to each door then go from one speaker to the next and it will be the same result. If you're running really thin wire then maybe do a run for each speaker but if you're running some good (OFC; Oxygen free copper) thick speaker wire (12-14awg size) then a single run will probably do fine.
