Posted April 23, 201312 yr I am looking for an amp to power my new front stage. Have come across a crescendo 1000c4 and a 125.4. The sundown is a bit more but I can splurge if it is worth it. I have never heard these brands in person but have not heard a bad thing about either one. My goal is sq. It will be powering an active front stage, 8 ohm hds tweeters, and 8 ohm 7" woofers in the stock door locations. Will I notice a difference in sq between these 2? How about overall quality? Is the sundown really worth almost twice the money? Or will I be just as well off going with my original plan and get a new ppi 900.4? Any advice opinions or comments are greatly appreciated.
April 23, 201312 yr Lol of course if money doesn't matter ZED. But out of the two I'd go with the Sundown.
April 23, 201312 yr ZED Audio Draconia-IIFor ultimate sound quality The Sundown is worth the extra money IMO.For very very good sound quality I am looking for an amp to power my new front stage. Have come across a crescendo 1000c4For good sound quality all good, but the price reflects the sound quality in the end.

Yeah its more quality in general I guess I should say then sound quality specifically. Zed will keep its value the longest undoubtedly also. if that plays a factor in what you buy. April 23, 201312 yr I have heard mixed things with Crescendo amps for mids and highs. I have heard nothing but good reviews on the Sundown. So yeah in the terms of general quality i'd still put my money on Sundown. These amps have never given me any issues.
April 23, 201312 yr Author Good to know. A Draconia ll is on my wish list but I need power as soon as possible...maybe I should just save for another month, my system will suffer but I will not have to upgrade any time soon. Thank you for all your feedback
April 23, 201312 yr If money isn't an issue, mosconi seems to be the "it" amps for SQ right now. My go to's are JL HD's I'm a big fan of sundown, but i like smaller footprint amps. Edited April 23, 201312 yr by eggyhustles
April 23, 201312 yr Author That's the problem, money is an issue. The ZED just is out of my price range Hopefully I can get the sundown for a good price, if not it will be the crescendo.
April 23, 201312 yr Try db-r electronics. http://www.db-r.com/sell/store2/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=65_67_69_124
April 23, 201312 yr Find a used Zed then. It is superior to the other two. Is the jump in price worth it, though? I don't think so. The sundown's are amazing amps at their price point. The crescendo's are good, too. Go with the whatevers the cheapest and use that money toward something else Better mids, more deadening, processing, etc etc. I also wouldn't rule out the PPI p900.4http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_38338_Precision-Power-PPI-P900.4.html Edited April 23, 201312 yr by eggyhustles

April 23, 201312 yr Find a used Zed then. It is superior to the other two. Is the jump in price worth it, though? I don't think so.I believe the resale price would be higher, especially if he found one used making the actual cost of owning the amplifier pretty low compared to the others. I also wouldn't rule out the PPI p900.4http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_38338_Precision-Power-PPI-P900.4.html Except it's never in stock. There are some other variants available at varying but generally higher prices. There's also this: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/hot-deals/147380-rockford-fosgate-punch-p1000x4d-%24274.html Which seems like a reasonably good deal. Hell buy two of them for less than the cost of a new Sundown 125.4 and have 250w x 4 @ 8ohm or 500w x 4 @ 4ohm on tap.
April 24, 201312 yr Author Why do there have to be so many options?! Saw a LNIB 125.4 for $380 shipped but the refurbished will save a few dollars and come with a 1 year warranty...are the refurbs more trustworthy than a classified add? It feels safer... Anyone know of any used draconias?
