I have a BTL n2 12" actually, and I love it. but I want more now !

I was thinking of reconing it to a 15" sub. Can you tell me what I need to buy from Fi, of course ? Recone kit, basket ?

 

Is it hard to do ?

Can I find a tutorial here or elsewhere (I'll try Google !).

I won't do it myself as I am not very familiar with speaker recones and tools, and ...anything  !!! a friend of mine will do it, but I want to know some things before.

 

I already have a design for a good box. It must be around 3-3.5 ft3 net @ 32 Hz !

buy the recone and basket from Fi.

 

the motors are the same so its just a matter of the basket and recone.

and you will need an impact screw driver

The only things available on Fi site are recone and basket, but I did not know if it was enough

 

Is it hard to change the basket ? Do I need special tools ? I have no idea and I want to tell the "builder" how to do it right , if he ever has questions before he starts.

It seems do-able !!! for a first-timer

I'm tired of their system. 3 weeks ago they told me they only need a few minutes to send me an invoice for a sub. Still waiting.

Buy an adhesive kit from their accessories section as well.  PSI and FI have the best CA glue IMO.  You want to buy the 2oz which is good enough the recone about 2 15" woofers.  As far as what tools and accessories you need, check out the videos on youtube from ShowtimeSPL on how to recone a woofer.  This is how I learned and I have now successfully reconed more than 10 woofers.

The reconing part is not a problem, as I know my good friend did some recones in his life !  I was only really wondering about the basket part. But it does not look like it's too hard to do.

But I've always receive some glue when ordering several recone kits from PAP, fixmyspeaker,...
