May 28, 201312 yr Any of you attempt using anything bigger than 1/0 with any luck? I'm thinking about upgrading to at least 2/0 and calling it a day.

May 29, 201312 yr only difference I have noticed is the jackets... doesn't seem as "sturdy/durable" ...not that it isn't durable but the weldingsupply wire jacket is beastly and makes it harder to deal with... even at the same gauge http://www.electronbeam.com/ Yea i haven't made a post in a while.but came across this today. May 29, 201312 yr you need 2/0 welding wire to equal 1/0 car audio wirethat's why the 1/0 is cheap, it's smaller iirc

May 29, 201312 yr That myth was formed because the diameter of the conductor for welding cable is smaller than most car audio wire because it's less stranded. That's the only reason.
May 29, 201312 yr That myth was formed because 90% of people are too ignorant or lazy to properly inform themselves about products they are interested in. That's the only reason.
May 29, 201312 yr Just placed an order for 54 Feet of 1/0 from the Remnant sale..Thanks for the Link Shogen
May 29, 201312 yr Physical construction may be different, that is it. The cross-sectional area of copper will always be the same unless the manufacturer is lying, which is almost never the case with welding cable, especially cable that has been rated by a reputable US third party. Swap-meet garbage "car audio" power cable is where you run into erroneous AWG identification ... You saw it (mistake) on this site last year with a cable comparison. O.D. of the conductor portion was measured. This tells you absolutely NOTHING when dealing with straded wire. NOTHING. The only way to make a meaningfull comparison is to measure the AWG of the individual strands and then count every single one. If you don't do that, don't even try and compare cable.
May 29, 201312 yr all arguments aside thanks OP for advertising something that could be of use to a lot of us thats the kinda stuff we need around here
May 30, 201312 yr Just placed an order for 54 Feet of 1/0 from the Remnant sale..Thanks for the Link ShogenYou're welcome.... wish I had money, I'd get 2/0 and never worry about wire again. Lol
May 30, 201312 yr good wire but the case does slip, i found that using a good heat shrink at the ends helps it from sliding.. and i do mean good heat shrink not that skyjacker shit. i have been using this wire for years and years.... i was a prick and kept it to my self.. i did share with steve mead .. but thats all..... its out of the bag now!!
May 30, 201312 yr The Royal Excelene I just bought is stamped 50mm2 on the jacket, which is technically smaller than 0/1ga by 3.5mm2 assuming it's an accurate number and they didn't just round for simplicity sake. But worst case 3.5mm2 isn't enough to make a difference in any situation but those maxing out the capabilities of the wire, at which point it would be wise to step up a gauge anyways.
