Hey guys, I’ve had this system for the past three months and I’m

not very fond of it..

Especially the Kicker Sub.
It doesn’t hit hard at all and with some low bass songs it sounds like I
may be using a little boom box.  I was
wondering if the system that I have set up should be sounding great or if what I’m
getting is expected from this kicker sub.

In my old truck I had an Alpine type S 12” amped, not sure if my
expectations are too high.

Also with my amped Alpine Type R speakers I’m not getting any
bass what so ever.  Was wondering if
that’s normal or if the guy I had set my system up tuned the speaker amp wrong.

I have a Chevy Silverado 2008 Crew Cab.

The sub is under the passenger seat on the driver side.

I know it maybe hard to understand what I’m trying to explain
with the quality of the sub, sorry! I just hoped for the money I spent I’d be
getting at least as good bass as I didn’t from the type s.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Also if you think what I’m getting out of the kicker is expected
any suggestions on a better shallow sub would be great!

But I’m not looking to spend more then $450 on a sub & box,
hopefully it could use the same amp I have now.

I’ve heard Sun Down and polk have some shallow subs but not sure
which models and what box to use or custom needed .

The lack of performance from the sub stage sounds like the enclosure is not designed around your goals and the application.

To be honest, that is the number one thing I hear at my shop on a daily basis. We see people come in from "other shops" with decent product, but a prefab box and they are not happy with the output or sound.

Thanks for your reply. Makes sense which sucks because that's the box the sub came with and about the biggest box that'll fit in my truck I guess. Not much I can do about the sub. What do you think about the speakers situation?

I have only had trucks and have had systems in all of them. Truck r hard to get loud. I back seat HAS to come out and u need a hug enclosure lots of air space. Lots of power and a huge port in the. Box. That's what worked for me.
