August 12, 201312 yr You will need a sub amp and a box. Neither of those drivers are particularly well suited for home audio and IMO you'd be better off selling them and buying something that is, but it doesn't make it impossible.
August 13, 201312 yr i have a ascendant audio atlas 15 that needs reconed, it would make a perfect home audio sub,
August 14, 201312 yr I had a SWR-12D4 hooked up to my sub channel off my Logitech X540 surround sound and it sounded very good in my basement. It was in a 2.5ft^3 box tuned at 33hz made out of particle board for pretty cheap. If it was powered by a proper amp Im sure it would sound even better. Good luck.
August 15, 201312 yr I used to have 4 of the first Gen Type R 15" drivers in vented alignments for a H/T sub stage. They actually sounded pretty good. They were different then the ones you have though. You would probably be better off selling what you have and buying a sub geared more towards your application, as already mentioned. You can get a really good 12-15" driver for around $150 and a decent plate amp for about the same... If you haven't built a lot of boxes you can start with a simple sealed alignment... Idiot proof most of the time...
