Posted April 23, 200619 yr the amp will mount onthe bottom with the bottom firing subs and ports. the box will be used as a seat as well as an enclosure in a 2006 dakota xcab.enjoy.the braces...gotta have braces if ya gonna sit on it...here ya can see the port and mounting hole. some of the material in this pic is destined for the router...material removed. teh center section between the subs is where the pr500d will be mounted.another look at the port, mounting hole and foot. and yep, the extended port wall was factored into the tuning. the box is tuned to 38hzhow it will sit in the dakota. and while it's 1/2inch mdf ( we had height, depth and width limits) it's strong enough for me to jump on it..lol...gotta test it someway!!anyay..2.5ft^3 net, tuned to 38hz....should rock!!wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
April 23, 200619 yr Author Funky port.1/2" MDF...i dont trust that stuff for enclosures.with the bracing and considering the subs and power, it's more then enough. i can literally jump up and down on the box and i'm 215pds.would i trust it for an extended period(me jumping on it)? no, but for it's intended prupose, it's more then strong enough.and ports..lol..there is one on each end...wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
April 23, 200619 yr Author really nice craftsmanship Kentthanks for picsthanks tom. i don't think i'll ever get to build just a regular box..lol. even the box in the jag isn't just rectangular. it's got a sloped bottom to fit the trunk floor and keep it level up top. that meant the port had to be custom too. souldn't just run it down the side and bottom, noooooo, i had to make it's own "bottom"...lol...here's a box i did thrusday as well. as basic as it gets for me. 2.7ft^3 tuned to 35hz for a 12w7. this shows the four corner braces around the sub and the brace just off to the left is for the back of the enclosure. off to the right is part of the port. i did a labrynth port so i could use it's walls as bracing as well.....the "stop sign" mounting baffle. we wanted a double baffle for the sub, but didn't want to extend it the whole face of the box. so i did a stop sign. the customer loved it..we got a good chuckle from it.sounded good and deep. but hte 800wrms he was thowing at it didn't do the sub justice.wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
