Honestly brand shouldn't matter. I normally go to my local shop for odds and ends to keep some of my business local as they have always been good to me.

Same. I don't buy equipment locally anymore because they don't carry what I want, but for many install accessories I buy locally when available.

Plus I find it is especially useful to keep good relationships, I can't tell you how many times my shop has bailed me out for a competition.
