January 25, 201411 yr I can by amp those 660 x overs with a Bit 1 and I know I would be happyThis makes NO SENSE. Pay $600 for a set of components where the actual drivers themselves would be around $20 each and then run them active. Even worse when they aren't optimized at all for your mounting locations (most likely). Seems to me you'd be better off saving the extra dough and just buying the drivers raw.
January 26, 201411 yr Author I just spent the last couple hours searching e bay for seperates... found a few interesting mids and mid bass but nothing tweeter wise that interests me for a decent price looking for something like the old school 1" Pure Titanium Domes ...the Focal Berylium tweeters are nice but so is the $1500 price tag...OUCH
January 26, 201411 yr Berylium? sounds like marketing bullshit. bet a 100 dollar tweeter outperforms its.
January 26, 201411 yr I just threw away a pair of old school titanium domes. Had no idea anyone would ever want them.
January 26, 201411 yr Author I just threw away a pair of old school titanium domes. Had no idea anyone would ever want them. well that sucks.....I love the old JBL Diamond stamped titanium domes I found a few pairs of the 8ohm home audio plate style but no 4ohm car style yet just a thought... if I go active I'm gonna need more amplifiers... my wife is gonna hate me....LOL
January 26, 201411 yr Author found a supplier with JBL Pro 1" pure Titanium Domes...........going 3 way active on the front stage
January 27, 201411 yr found a supplier with JBL Pro 1" pure Titanium Domes...........going 3 way active on the front stageNice choice on the active portion. How much for the drivers?
January 27, 201411 yr Author the Titanium domes are $89 each plus shipping I also found a 3" silk dome midrange transducers or the 4" DLS Scandinavia series mids now all I got to do is decide on the mid bass....going with two 6.5" in each door so 8ohm will work...keep the channels at 4ohm on each side
January 27, 201411 yr have you looked into the driver on sites like partsexpress or madisound? i would give zaphaudio's reviews and measurements a look as well. zaphaudio.com
January 28, 201411 yr the Titanium domes are $89 each plus shippingI also found a 3" silk dome midrange transducers or the 4" DLS Scandinavia series midsnow all I got to do is decide on the mid bass....going with two 6.5" in each door so 8ohm will work...keep the channels at 4ohm on each sideIf you are restricting yourself to dual 6.5" mids, and given your desire for high output, I think the Exodus Anarchy's would be worth a look. They are pretty easy to find used and while I don't think Exodus is selling them anymore someone else has resurrected them.Any reason you wouldn't want to go with a single 8 per side?

January 28, 201411 yr Author found some GR Research M165X woofer with XBL2 motor....X Max = 7.8mm one way
January 28, 201411 yr $90 buys you an awesome tweeter, personally I'd think about normal diy drivers. If you said $20 ea then okay. Same on the mid and midbass. I'd AVOID looking at car audio anything as that won't help. Something larger than a 6.5 makes a TON of sense for 50-250 btw.
January 28, 201411 yr Author I think two of these in each door will work nicely....LOTS of excursionfor a 6.5" woofer and a FS of 40.....and the XBL design has really tight sound http://gr-research.com/m165xwoofer.aspx
January 28, 201411 yr ex anarchy is 25mm peak to peak but can play far higher than 250hz, its also an xbl design. peerless sls 6.5 would be another idea. i'd just run a single sls 8 per side. your doors will give out before the woofer. Edited January 28, 201411 yr by lithium
January 28, 201411 yr Author The real question is why 2 6.5's instead of an 8. 250Hz is EASY for most 8's. there is a certain point on the door that I want to stay below and I want to push the midbass as forward as possible and the dash is in the way of an 8" fitting
January 29, 201411 yr Author research is all done going with the JBL Pro 1" pure titanium tweeters...they are raw replacementelements so I have to get mounting plates machined4 of them...2 up front and two in the back190w rms per side these for mid range http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=VWR126X4 of these ....2 up front and 2 in the back190w rms per side these for mid basshttp://www.diysoundgroup.com/anarchy-woofer/anarchy.html4 of them....2 in each door280w rms per side I am not putting mid bass in the rear...the doors will produce enough and I need theroom in the back to run the ports ( the build log will explain)
January 30, 201411 yr Author it should sound really tight those tweeters sound un like anything available for car audio ..the same titanium tweeters used in the high end night club and studio stuff both the mids and mid bass are XBL*
January 30, 201411 yr Author never to many drivers....one set of tweeters , one set of mids and double mid bass onthe front stage is similar to what I had in my last system ....it sounded awsome nothing going in the back seat..... there will be a tweeter and a 4.5" mid for each rear shock towerso the rear seats have some top end and for when the hatch is open the subs are going in the rear corners ...the ports will take up a lot of room to achievemy port velocity target ...this has to be done with out getting in the way of the floorpanel folding up for axcess to the amps, battery and spare tirenot to mention I have to figure out where to put the bit one and extra battery
January 30, 201411 yr is this some kind of ms8 logic 7 install? i assume its not, in which case they're hurting the install quite severely.
