Posted July 11, 201411 yr Alright guys, I was helping my friend install a system in his HHR that he just got, and he wanted to keep the stock headunit. I don't know if the problem is because of the factory headunit not excepting the line out converter or what. The problem is that once we installed the line out converter to the proper wires the front 6 1/2's stopped working. We tapped the rear speakers for the line out converter. I did not solder the wires I don't think that is the problem though. The thing that is weird to me is that the tweeters still worked, the rear speakers still worked, and the sub and amp worked. So do you guys know anything that we can do to fix this problem. I have looked and can't find people with this exact problem so it may be a user problem???? I need help!?
July 11, 201411 yr Where did you do the splicing? At the rear speaker? Or behind the HU? All you did was tap into the wires, or did anything get cut? GM does some funny things sometimes with their stereo integration. I had to just through a few hoops myself at one point in my tahoe.
July 11, 201411 yr Sure it is all connected right? Some of it working screams it isn't. Rears are pretty useless in a Suburban which makes them uber useful in an HHR...
July 11, 201411 yr Author We hooked them up right behind the headunit. My friend just called me saying the sub cut out and the front speakers started working again. whats going on?
