It is the ONLY way to get loud outside a vehicle.

The ones on my boat stay out uncovered in the elements all summer long.

You can either spend $1k on wakeboard tower stuff or build your own with active processing for WAY less than that. Remember that Pro Audio drivers in that application are going to need a large ported enclosure and a horn designed for throw in the direction and length you need them to go. The rest is really rather easy.
