Amps that have a clip light ie sundown is that light accurate? What's safe a small flash a little fast fashing solid red? Gain was check with a oscope and a dd1 in the past.. Still clip light comes on

Also with the gain set by ear I get the same clip light ... Amp is a saz 1200 two sa 12 d4

Just as useful as the dd-1, pointless marketing gimic that has no value.  

/\ that isn't to say you aren't clipping your amp.  All the methods you described for "checking" gains outside of your ear don't matter.  If you ear doesn't work, then train it.
