more questions. ive decided to nix the midbass. im gonna run the 8 tweets and 8 midrange, and whatever crossovers we come up with...

amp(s): should i run 1 amp or 2? if i run 1, i dont think i can give 100w to each mid and 45 to each tweet...thats why i was thinking getting an amp for the mids, and an amp for the tweets, only thing would be setting the gains correctly for both. how hard is that? can it be done?

Do the MT's at 70Hz wit ha STEEP slope. Run the midbasses down as far as they will go untill right before they bottom out with given power (or seem to be stressing). We will figure that out in after install tweaking. The midrange drivers are probable good for 3kHz and the tweeters can be ran up the rest of the way.

Guy on CA.com is selling Memphis Xovers, im thinking of picking one up, you might want to too. THey are beat up but fir $15 if they work... :woot:

Run two amps. High powered 2chanel amps are decently cheap.

Got any ideas on what amps you are going to run?

What impeadance are the mids/tweets?

Never mind. 400wx2 @ 2ohm should be easy :goes hunting:

nah, bass foo, bass.

Because SQ is of minimal importance im gonna go ahead and reccomend hifonics. Lots of power for cheap.

first for the woofers, second for the tweeters :)

im not running midbass anymore lol.

your mids become your midbasses ;)

check CA.com for thoes Xovers. im getting one, he has one left. 15 + 7 shipping.

I know you already have those, but just to give you an idea. With some wicked eq'ing, we managed to get just two of these to run at 138dBA from 2kHz-15kHz. I had to bypass the protection circuit and wire in a different one, but nonetheless BRUTAL output. Not only did we get the output that high, but it was averaged throughout the room albeit a reverb chamber that is 20x30x15.

That is why I recommended just going with a pro audio compression driver. They are specifically made for wicked output. To simplify things, I'd return what you ordered and go with something similar.

Note, I am not a big Peavey fan but the customer I was working with had a relationship with the rep who would guarantee we could get 140db out of them. We did blow a couple pairs figuring out how to, but I had the rep over at the time and we rebuilt them and worked it out.

111db efficiency and can play down to match with almost any midbass. I'd buy one pair of these or a better compression driver and run some 8" midbass that can play up to 1.4kHz with them. It will make your crossover and powering questions much, much easier. EQ on the other hand, no but since you are just looking for loud wtf.

M5 has a point. Can you return/sell thoes tweeters?

When are we going to install this anyway? I geuss your Xover is comming to me.

If you have the speakers and the crossovers and you just get the amps we can go ahead and install all of that with one trip and then we can do the wall later on. :)

I am going to use PA horns when I bulid my boat system for that reason. I will have normal tweets for listening but a set of uber ones for partying at the island. A little switch to go in between and I will have the best of both worlds, loud or good sound.

BTW did you see Pipo was selling his 5 MT's?

PA horns on a wakeboard tower...for the ultamite in ride & listen.

Everyone else around might not like you though.

Have you ever talked to kickin' about helping out?

We'll probably need it, especially for the wall.
