Posted August 24, 200619 yr I plan on getting a SI Mag D2 15 in the near future and I'm wondering what kind of box I can make to get the best of it. The limits of the trunk of my car are 16" high, 16" deep, and 36" long, or about a total of 4.2 cubes max internal volume. Would it make more sense to go for a large (~3 cubes) sealed enclosure (Decware Wedge style) or a amaller (~3 cubes after displacement and port) ported enclosure? Quality of sound is the most important factor, but I'd prefer lots and lots of that quality sound. The more headroom I can get, the happier I'll be. It will be powered by an Orion 1200D. It will replace two IA LI 12s sharing ~3.2 cubes at 32hz. Edited August 24, 200619 yr by Scarenius
August 24, 200619 yr 3 cubes sealed would sound awesome on that! You could also do 3.5 vented assuming you could fit the vent, but you have more than enough power to get a great amount of output from the sealed application.
August 25, 200619 yr Author Your truck isn't an early 90s model Ford Taurus. If I could fit that kind of room in there, I'd go with half a Wicked One enclosure and really get my watt's worth of output. =)
August 25, 200619 yr Here's 3.5 cubes in the trunk of the 93.Your room could be limitless if you build within the trunk.
