I want to say it's a late 90s Yukon suv the only thing I need help with is figuring out if I should try and budget for as most cone area as possible or highest quality sub I can get like 8 12inch pioneer subs or 1 hdc4 18 keep in mind he probably isn't going to want to upgrade alt and batts so I'm working with about 1000rms if that also that he probably don't want to spend alot

A single 12" or 2 10" in a good ported box is plenty of volume for a Yukon. If he doesnt want to do major upgrades and keep it on a budget I feel that would be the best option.

Ok I thought since it's a bigger truck you would need more cone area to move air

Back to my question then.

This is all an assumption but I'm thinking budget $500-600 tuned higher for old school rap and it has to be LOUD bass probably upgrade door speakers later add mids if I can talk him into it.. also I thought more cone area moves more air and with more subs would be more output is that wrong? I was thinking like 6-8 pioneer or Kenwood cheapo Amazon subs all together would get down

LOUD bass and $5-600 aren't compatible. Plus loud is all relative. To me 150spl is far too loud. To you, it may not be nearly loud enough. To him it may be anywhere in between. I still think a pair of higher quality 10" or 12" speakers in a good box would be better than 6-8 cheap subs, but who knows.

Yeah if i were you i would hit Craigslist.

Why are you assuming.  Ask.

Your other assumption is wrong too.  6 so cheapos is not the way to go.

Were going over his house in a couple days to talk about it also this is why I was thinking it would work

That blow through cost more than the truck did. Plus its over his budget. ;)

Why do you say that looks like the most expensive thing was his amp also I'm doing everything myself I don't take anything to a shop

You will not need a "blow through" setup for a SUV.

I've seen plenty of people have good luck with a simple wedge ported and tuned enclosure. Some don't use wedge design, but I like them. To each his own I guess. Wish I was on my laptop, I could link you to plenty of pics with Tahoe / Yukon setups.
