Posted March 16, 200718 yr Check this out. A true point source 3-way driver. Be interested in how they sound.http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi...16&pid=2201

March 16, 200718 yr They make a similar setup with just the mid and tweet without the woofer. They might just fit i my A-pillars...FS of 650hz with a recommended xover point of >800hz....not terribly impressive. More like a low playing tweeter than an actual midrange, and completely defeats the purpose of a "3-way" system design by having the xover point smack in the middle of the midrange frequency range....not to mention the "dedicated midbass" would need to play pretty high...high enough that you would no longer be in the sanctity of the midbass realm where only time arrival matters and not speaker aiming.Heck, the Dayton RS28 tweeter has a lower FS than the S1.Theil's 2-way coincident midrange/tweeter combo on the other hand.....Genesis has a version coming out that I believe can play from 300hz on up. Although it's going to MSRP @ $799/pair http://thielaudio.com/THIEL_Site05/Pages/T...nicoildiag.html
April 6, 200718 yr As squeak pointed out, the idea is neat...but putting a crossover point right in the critical area isn't such a good idea. The driver should sell though because a driver like this gives the point source guys a hard-on. Neat speaker though - kinda like an affordable Cabasse all-in-one speaker...but without the coolness of the Cabasse.

Wouldn't be suprised if they were essentially the same. I'll let you know how the CDTs sound once I get them installed.
