I've decided to do a wall in my Blazer for 2 FI BTL 18's. They will be powered by a Concept 2410 on each. My question is for those experienced with walls. Is there a loss of deep bass by porting toward the front vs. toward the back hatch? I'm really just wanting to know what will happen as I have never tried a wall before. I'm sure that there will be an increase in air movement inside the vehicle. Thanks for your help.

Im not sure I understand, a wall would have to port toward the front - its gonna block off the rear section of the vehicle completely.

Let me clarify. I've never done a wall before. All my other setups have had a box just below seat level ported toward the rear. I was wondering what kind of difference in response and SPL (in general) a wall with port facing forward would have compared to the other listed setup. Sorry for the confusion.

Okay, now I get it. Well, its not very easy to predict what will happen when you wall off a vehicle. The loss of deep bass is possible - the vehicles transfer function (cabin gain) can change, and shift the peak frequency up. In general your SPL will rise along with the peak frequency.

But when you say something like "I'm sure that there will be an increase in air movement inside the vehicle" - I dont really get what you mean, could you explain this more?

Hopefully more experienced people can chime in, I have limited experience with walls (none personal so far )

I was told by another person that when you port forward it increases the amount of air you feel moving around you, vs a setup with port towards the rear which would have less air velocity by the time it turned a 180 of the rear glass and back toward the front. Somewhat like a fan blowing on you from behind. But anyway, air velocity has no bearing on the question I'm asking. I just kind of threw that topic in there didn't I? Thanks for the info Tommy. I didn't think about it raising the peak frequency. Maybe someone more experienced with a wall will check out this thread.
