Posted April 8, 200718 yr Okay the recommendation for a sealed MAW-15 is 2.2 cubes which from my calculations will result with a Q of 0.548 (roughly) which should yield a tight response. I usually have built enclosures before with a Q of .7 and at the very least built enclosures with Q of around 6.My question is that has anyone tried these with a higher Q than the recommended and what were your results? For example below are some boxes sizes I came up with, no damping fill.Vb of 2.93 cubes = Q of 0.501Vb of 2.5 cubes = Q of 0.524Vb of 2.2 cubes = Q of 0.548Vb of 1.88 cubes = Q of 0.578Vb of 1.65 cubes = Q of 0.605Vb of 1.10 cubes = Q of 0.704Vb of 0.61 cubes = Q of 0.904 Edited April 8, 200718 yr by berserker
April 8, 200718 yr I had 2 MAW 15's in 3 cubes sealed heavily stuffed and trust me......I wish it was bigger. It sounded great but a bigger box would have provided me with a bit more low end. I believe the trial and error by the members of this board has led to 2.4-2.6 cubes to be the ideal goal for a MAW 15 sealed.
April 9, 200718 yr my maw in 2.45 sealed is nice. great lows, and very linear response. no real peak at all. lacks in the higher bass though as you approach 70hz and up.
